October 5, 2008
Dear parishioners,
The parish staff and the pastoral council have been working on several initiatives for the coming
year, and I would like to tell you about two of them. To “kick them off,” there are two events coming
up this fall, and I hope that you can be a part of them!
-
The first event is all about the spiritual renewal and transformation of our
hearts and our parish. It will take place on Wednesday, October 22, at 6:30p.m.
in the parish hall. The principal focus for this spiritual renewal will be the development
of small Christian communities—similar to the Renew groups of the 1980’s. I
would like to see dozens of small groups participating in bible study and faith
sharing around the parish. We will start with a light supper, then have a presentation by Dr. Kathleen
Schinhofen, and a prayer service. I am hoping to see all of our ministry leaders
there. Please invite all the people you know, and in particular the ministry members
you work with. It should be a great evening!
-
The second event is more of a fund-raiser to signal the beginning of our campaign
to renovate the cathedral. It will be a dinner, a live and silent auction, and an
“up-scale” white elephant sale! A group of dedicated parishioners has been
organizing the evening, to be held in the parish hall on Saturday, November 8,
at 6:30p.m. Tickets are $50.00 each for an excellent dinner and the evening activities and
entertainment. They will go on sale right after the Fiesta this weekend, so please
come!
May God bless you, and may God bless Holy Family Cathedral parish!
Sincerely,

Father Don
