The Catholic
Youth Community of Holy Family Cathedral needs faith-filled adults
who are willing and able to share their faith and love with our
wonderful young people! We have openings in the following
areas:
Clerical
Food Services
Program Leaders
Computer Technology Specialists
Sports and Recreation
Telecommunications
Transportation
Parent Advisory Board
Project Coordinators
Child Care Providers
Clerical
Immediate day or night openings for:
- Bulk Mail Specialist: To fold, staple, label, and prepare
materials for mailing. (Fluency in Postal System language is
helpful, but not required.) No experience is necessary. We will
train you!
- Copy Machine Operator: To print small to large printing jobs.
No experience is necessary; our copier is very easy to use,
we will show you how!
- Typist: Must be able to type at least 10 w.p.m. (Hunt n' Peck
Method OK.). Experience with computers in general and the computer
programs we use (Office 2000 - Word, Excel, Microsoft Publisher
etc. is helpful, but not necessary. (Hey, if we can put together
this brochure, anybody can!)

modern equipment, and the satisfaction of providing a much-needed
and necessary service to the young people of the parish. - and,
hey! - not to mention the huge amount of God-Dollars you will
earn!

Food Services
Youth Ministry has occasional and seasonal openings in the field
of Food Services for:
- Bakers: Willing to provide home-baked goodies (cookies, cakes,
brownies) for various activities.
- Cooks: Must be able to plan and cook well-balanced meals (that
teens will actually eat!) at retreats and other
special events.
- Purchasers: Knowledge of food prices and ability to pick up
and deliver food supplies as needed.
- Benefits: Those who meet the above criteria will endure the
everlasting appreciation of the full and happy stomachs of the
Youth Ministry Team and the teens in our Catholic Youth Community!

Program Leaders
This is a great opportunity for a short term commitment in a team
oriented, leadership capacity, serving as a Confirmation Catechist,
or as a Small Group Leader for "Teens N' Topics," coach,
organizer, or Team Member for specific programs. Program Leaders
are needed in the following areas:
Youth Retreats
Chaperon at Social Activities
Service Projects
Confirmation Preparation Catechist
Teens N' Topics Small Group Leader
Fundraising Projects
Successful applicants need to possess an interest
and love for working with teenagers. Applicants will need to either
possess the knowledge and skills needed OR a sincere desire to
learn how to be an effective leader in one of these areas. Training,
of course, will be provided!
Benefits include: the chance to put one's own
interests and skills to work with young people, opportunities
to get to know some great kids, and lots of support and encouragement
from the Program Coordinators and the Cathedral Youth Minister.

Computer Technology
Specialist
Ongoing opportunities to provide the Youth Ministry Office
with computer and technical support, consulting and recommendations
in the incredible changing world of technology! A great opportunity
to help those of us who are computer illiterate (what the heck
is a mouse?) but are willing to learn.
Benefits include: helping the Youth Ministry
Office get "with the program" - hooking into the Internet,
creating and maintaining a web site and ministering to youth and
their families by E-mail!

Sports and Recreation
Seasonal openings and one-time openings exist in the area of Sports
and Recreation. Openings for coaching and/or playing are available
in the following areas:
Volleyball
Softball
Camping
Water Rafting
Basketball
Skiing
Responsibilities can include planning an activity,
coaching a team through practice and league or tournament play,
or just playing side-by-side with young people in a particular
sport activity.
Benefits include having fun with youth, an opportunity
to get some much needed exercise (lose weight on us!), a pleasant
working atmosphere, and a chance to interact with quality young
people.

Telecommunications
In-Home Service Opportunity: Occasional work in this exciting
and expanding area of phone contact. Applicants must enjoy speaking
on the phone, and should have a pleasant voice, the ability to
devote 1-2 hours at a time (usually in the evening), keep good
records and a persistence (bordering on an obsession!) in making
return calls.
Benefits include multiple opportunities for good
conversation with interesting teens and their parents, helping
with a vital part of the Youth Ministry outreach effort, and all
this without leaving the comfort of your own home! How about that?!

Transportation
The following openings exist in the all-important area of Transportation:
- Drivers: Needed to haul precious (and sometimes loud, but
fun!) cargo of teenagers. Applicants must have a valid California
driver's license, be fully insured and should supply their own
vehicle (FM radio and/or cassette and/or CD player is optional,
but very helpful). Reimbursement for gas expenses is available
upon request.
- Loan a Van: If you would rather not drive, but have a van,
then here's your opportunity! Vans are needed for many activities,
in-town and out-of-town. Responsible drivers are available.
Benefits include keeping up on all current youth
culture, language and music (hey, look at it this way, it'll help
keep you young!), participating in fun activities, and a (possible)
tax deduction.

Parent Advisory Board
No effective Youth Ministry can survive without parent support
and input!! We are looking for parents of high school youth to
form a Parent Advisory Board which will meet quarterly to review
programs, provide input on upcoming plans, and occasionally attend
and participate in a Youth Ministry program or activity to observe.
Parents need to commit themselves for 1 year (only 4 meetings!).
Benefits include: opportunities to meet with
and receive support from other parents, to better understand what
is happening in our Youth Ministry, and to provide valuable input
into the direction of the Cathedral parish's Youth Ministry program.

Program Coordinators
Our Youth Ministry is seeking dedicated adults to be part of the
Youth Ministry Team. Coordinators are needed in the following
areas:
- Relationship and Community Building:
providing programs and social activities where young people
get to know each other in a relaxed and fun atmosphere.
- Community Service: providing programs
and activities where young people can be of service to the parish
and to the civic community.
- Educational Programs: providing programs
and activities where young people can learn about our Catholic
faith and explore topics and issues of concern to them.
- Finance Department: providing programs
and activities where young people
can raise funds to finance special programs and projects not
covered by our generous, but limited budget.
The successful candidates need to be able to
commit themselves for either 6 months or 1 year of service, work
with a team of youth and adults, and plan and implement programs
within their specific areas. Of course, hands-on training and
assistance will be given and available on a continuous basis.
Benefits include: a pleasant working environment,
active support and direction from the Cathedral Youth Minister,
and the opportunity to have a significant impact on youth and
the Cathedral parish's ministry with them.

Child Care Provider
A great opportunity for those who love children! Your gift of
baby-sitting during Youth Ministry events will enable other faith-filled
adults the opportunity to serve and offer their talents and time
to our youth!
